Myanmar will has Asian heavyweights Japan in the second match of their 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers crusade at the Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon on Tuesday.
Myanmar and Japan are in Group F of the 2022 FIFA World Cup and 2023 AFC Asian Cup Joint-Qualifiers second round where they are joined by Kyrgyz Republic, Mongolia and Tajikistan.
In their opening match a week ago in Ulaanbaatar, the Asian Lions endured a stun 1-0 thrashing to Mongolia who were showing up in the second round of the qualifiers while Japan are showing up in the qualifiers.
Upwards of 40 groups from Asia have been drawn into eight gatherings of five groups each for the second round of the qualifiers which will keep running until June 9, 2020. Eight gathering champs just as the four best other participants will fit the bill for the AFC Asian Cup 2023 to be held in China just as the third and last round of the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers which is planned to start in September 2020.
At that point, the four best groups in the third round will meet all requirements for the show-stopper occasion in Qatar while a fifth group will partake in an intercontinental play-off. In the interim, the following best 24 groups from the second round of the joint-qualifiers will partake in a different challenge to choose the 12 residual spaces in the 24-group 2023 Asian Cup to be held in China PR.
